Walk No. 22 - Waterfalls of the Bihor Mountains
You arrive to Cluj Napoca airport. You will have a FREE guided tour in the city, depending on your flight hours. Transfer to Beius where you will spend the night.
We begin with a beautiful view of the Apuseni Mountains. The view ont he Boga Valley is one of the most beautiful vistas of the whole mountain range. After having enjoyed the panorama, we start descending on a mountain path and soon, after some walk on a forest road, we will start a steep descent. Soon we find the cascades of the Three Kings. The first one is an 8 meters high, very beautiful waterfall in the broad riverbed. The second one is barely visible from this angle. A steep and slippery descent follows, and after some minutes you reach the last and most spectacular King, this one reaching an altitude of 20 meters. The water is tumbling down from a huge rock, and you can walk behind the waterfall for some nice pictures. The cascades have been named after the biblical three kings: Melchior, Caspar and Balthasar, Balthasar being the highest one. After the waterfalls, you can have a short hike on a very spectacular ridge offering nice views of the below-lying Boga village and the surrounding mountains.
(Medium hike, short but sometipes slippery and includes some steep sections. Walking poles recommended. Distance 4 km. Height difference 300 m. Duratin 2-3 hours.)
